Colombian at it's best
One of the best things about staying in the Adelaide CBD is the Adelaide markets.
Bounded by Gouger and Grote street the markets are a vibrant, colourful link to Adelaide's market garden history.
Endless stalls of fruit and veg and a smattering of food outlets with cuisines around the world. Its a massive complex under a single roof with retail outlets on the outer fringes.
Our (new) fave brekky haunt is tiny Cumbia on the Grote street edge of the building.
Primarily a brekky\brunch outfit, the food is unusual first time around but its more about combinations of ingredients we are not used to.
The main constituent is corn bread with not a slice of toast to be seen. And its delicious stuff - corn bread with roasted pumpkin slices, rocket, feta and drizzled with Kangaroo island Fig Honey ( pictured at left).
Or a corn bread bruschetta of cherry tomatoes, feta and rocket, drizzled with Balsamic. Perfect food and not too large.
Its also licenced so a wine with lunch is the way to go, if that's your fancy.
Squeeze in there next time you hit the markets - its worth it.
