Stone fruit salad - Beaconsfield Wine Bar

Wait..... what!

A wine bar in Beaconsfield?

Beaconsfield - the quintessential, post-40s architectural Smithsonian of the southern 'burbs, now booming with the nouveau riche.

Yummy mummies with prams, hitched to hunky guys with beards wearing Blundstones.
And now they can walk to this hip new wine bar in a nondescript clutch of beige shops.

Just off Leroy Street and tucked between a hair and beauty salon and a real estate agent, Matt and Lucy, the husband and wife team behind BWB reek of hospo experience.

And it’s an impressive pedigree for the team. Matt was previously venue manager at the wildly successful Madalena’s in South Freo and helped establish Lola’s on Market Street.

Banging out the food in the tiny space, Toby and Jackson (La Lune and Short Order) are inventive and precise with their offerings, an homage to their previous kitchens.

It all comes together perfectly - particularly in the extensive wine list. Boutique canned beers are also a surprise.

BwB is true to its pedigree when it comes to food offerings - sublime, tiny Mortadella rolls are a must have - layered into artisanal bread from Hunters bakery in Palmyra, the Princi mortadella, Gruyere cheese, pickles, mustard and mayo filling are superb beer food.

Paired with a simple but delicious stone fruit salad, it shows why small bars are overtaking, and out classing pubs, as the new weekend arvo go to’s.

After initially engaging us via Insta, it was a pleasure to see it borne true in person.

The place was empty when we arrived and totally packed when we left.

The potential here is enormous and it's a must visit.
