At first glance, the shabby-chic exterior of the South Beach Hotel (SBH) may give the impression of an 80's bikie hangout - with its beach shack style tables lining the outer walls and the 60's hanging baskets of green tendrils.
And its a great trick, but those newbies adventurous enough to enter are usually hooked.
The SBH has everything - sports bar with blaring footy on monster TV's, a 50's style dining room with great uppity tables nestled at the windows and a roomy bar out the back with tables large enough to seat a family or two.
As the pandemic drags on the Blonde and I have been eating here at least once a month - mainly as we can take the dogs but equally due the the excellent menu.
Its still pub-ish food but with an adventurouis twist and great prices - think pork and apple snags with celariac\potato mash and roasted brussels or a salad of rocket leaves with balsamic and roasted apple.
On our last visit we dug into the sharing menu and wolfed down Crispy Whiting Tacos, Ginger and Coriander Snapper Spring rolls and a monster Caesar salad.
There are offerings across all tastes and proteins and it has a brand new pizza oven turning out lucsious looking pizzas.
Its one of the few pubs in town that feeds you inventively and leaves you with money for the week ahead.
