Duende - Leederville | This is how we do it.....

Tapas and wine tasting - Duende

Drinking wine is not rocket science, tasting it is.

We are in the good end of Leederville at Duende, a breezy, bright, hip and totally fab tribute to all things español.

And we are here for a "Whites of Northern Spain" wine tasting. For us it's like shooting fish in a barrel, combine Spain and wine in a sentence and were are there.

This is a well planned and run event, a small bunch of wine tragics meets some of Spain's best whites. Led by Anja Lewis, trading as Canny Grapes, we are introduced to the different regions and wine producing lands in northern Spain.

Encompassing Galicia, Rioja, Rueda and many other regions, we were taken through the land in a glass.

Kicking off with a side by side Cava (Spanish sparkling) tasting and followed by half a dozen other brilliant whites all enhanced by Anja's insane knowledge of Spain and its wines.

We traveled to all parts of Northern Spain without moving from our tables, which is just as well as the tapas was fabulous.

The Cava was followed by widely varying styles of wines - Txakoli (pronounced "Chuck-o-li"), Verdejo from Rueda and wound up with sweeter wines to close.

A wonderful, exploratory and fun way to discover new wines.

Canny Grapes are running other events similar to this until May 2020.

Check their calendar here.
